Program Outline
The focus is on initiating or intensifying collaborative research activities between a German and a Japanese university and/or research institution to strengthen scientific relations. Special emphasis is placed on the qualification of early-career researchers.
What is Funded?
The program supports mobility and short-term stays for the exchange of university members from the participating partner institutions, especially early-career researchers, for research stays.
DAAD provides funding in the form of flat-rate grants for the stays of German project participants in Japan, as well as travel allowances. Stays of Japanese project participants in Germany are financed by the Japanese program partner, including travel to Germany.
Maximum funding duration:
- PhD holders and university lecturers: 30 days per stay
- Graduates and doctoral candidates: 50 days per stay
Who is Eligible?
Graduates, doctoral candidates, PhD holders, postdocs (Habilitierte), and university lecturers.
Who can apply?
Applications can be submitted by German universities and research institutions in coordination with a Japanese cooperation partner. The program is generally open to all academic disciplines.
