Application Requirements:
Doctoral candidates (who expect to complete their doctorate within the next 2 years after the start of funding) and postdoctoral researchers from the USA, Canada, all EU member states, as well as Switzerland and Norway.
The PhD must not have been completed more than 6 years prior to April 1 of the fiscal year in which the fellowship begins.

There are three selection rounds per year; application documents must be submitted at least 7 months before the desired selection date.
Terms of Financial Support:
– Round-trip airfare to and from Japan
– Monthly stipend: Postdoc 362,000 yen; Predoc 200,000 yen
– Settling-in allowance: 200,000 yen (for stays of 3 months or longer)
– Accident and health insurance
