Application Requirements:
Young postdoctoral researchers from all countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Japan. The PhD must not have been completed more than 6 years prior to April 1 of the fiscal year in which the fellowship begins.
Duration of fellowships:
12 to 24 months. The stay in Japan may not begin between December 1 and March 31.
Application Options:
1. The host submits the application through their institution to the JSPS headquarters in Tokyo; applications are possible in May and September.

– Round-trip airfare to and from Japan
– Monthly stipend of 362,000 yen

Additional benefits from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for research fellows selected by the Foundation for the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science:
– Reintegration support for job interviews or participation in important career-related conferences in Germany.
– A return fellowship may be granted after the research stay abroad for up to 12 months, enabling the continuation of cooperation with the host while affiliated with a research institution in Germany.
– Alumni support after successful completion of the stay abroad and return to Germany, particularly financial support for conference participation and short visits by or to members of the Humboldt Network abroad.
